The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has condoled the passing away of the renowned playback singer, Shri Mahendra Kapoor.
In a condolence message to the late singer's wife, Smt. Pravin Kapoor and other family members, the President has said, "Shri Kapoor was a veteran playback singer of Hindi films. He had delighted countless music lovers across the country by his melodious voice. He will always be remembered for his patriotic songs like 'Mere desh ki dharti sona ugle', 'Bharat ka rehnewala hoon' and 'Ab ke baras'.
