The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has greeted little Vandana, the three year old girl child on her rescue, after she fell into an open borewell in Tehra Village of Uttar Pradesh this week.
Taking a note of this recent incident and some others before this in the country, the President has appealed to local authorities and the people to be vigilant and ensure that open pits, borewells and manholes are covered, so as to avoid unnecessary repetition of such incidents.
