Media reports have appeared that trees were cut for developing a helipad in Andaman & Nicobar Islands to facilitate landing of the Presidential helicopter. In this regard, Rashtrapati Bhavan has sought clarification from the Andaman & Nicobar Administration and instructed the Administration to undertake compensatory plantation immediately if trees were cut and removed. It is also clarified that neither the President nor the President's family is spending the New Year at the Island. As regards media reports about cancellation of booking of tourists, Rashtrapati Bhavan has not sought cancellation of any booking.
