ENVOYS OF SEVEN NATIONS PRESENT CREDENTIALS TO PRESIDENT OF INDIA

18-10-2010 : Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi

Seven envoys presented their credentials to the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The envoys who presented their credentials were: - His Excellency Mr. Fatos Kerciku, the Ambassador of Albania, His Excellency Mr. Freddy Svane, the Ambassador of Denmark, His Excellency Mr. Khaled El Bakly, the Ambassador of Egypt, His Excellency Mr. Kim Joong-keun, the Ambassador of Republic of Korea, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Tahsin Ahmad Berwari, the Ambassador of Iraq, His Excellency Mr. Andre Sanra, the Ambassador of Benin and His Excellency Mr. Giacomo Sanfelice di Monteforte, the Ambassador of Italy.

Welcoming the envoys, the President conveyed greetings for Dussehra and Diwali. Referring to India's election as a Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council, she said that India was grateful to the international community for the support extended and the confidence shown in India's capability to be a voice of stability as well as development in global affairs. She said India will contribute to global issues in a constructive manner. The President mentioned the necessity of addressing the menace of terrorism which was threatening peace. She also referred to the importance of co-ordinated action by the international community in economic and financial matters. The President further said that India was committed to building friendly ties and extending cooperation in mutually beneficial fields with other countries.

The credential presentation ceremony was attended by the senior members of the missions, senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and Rashtrapati Bhavan.
